Classical music lovers are keeping CDs on top of popularity

In an era where streaming is the favorite way of listening to music, the fans of classical music are keeping CDs on top of popularity, according to research conducted by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The study is based on music consumption in the UK, where CD is still the favorite way of enjoying music for 43% of listeners, before streaming (39%).

Anyway, when we ask classical music lovers about their favorite format, CDs grow to 53%.

The reasons, according to James Williams, Managing Director at the Royal Philharmonic, is that classical music listeners prefer CDs for the high-quality of sound, because they like keeping a physical collection, and because you do not need changing sides halfway through the symphony, as with vinyl.
